Biblical Support On How To Raise Your Child

Parents, through education your children have the ability to be prepared for success by using what they are taught, combined with their God given skills. The responsibility for the education of children is a God-given responsibility to parents, not to the state. Here we look at Biblical support on how to raise your children, how to pray for your children, and the Biblical truth that God has instructed parents to guide and educate their children in admonition of the Lord.

Parents, you are to instruct your children in the faith.

Ephesians 6:4

“And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.”

Psalm 78:5-7

“For He established a testimony in Jacob, And appointed a law in Israel, Which He commanded our fathers, That they should make them known to their children; That the generation to come might know them, The children who would be born, That they may arise and declare them to their children, That they may set their hope in God, And not forget the works of God, But keep His commandments;”

Deuteronomy 6:6-9

“And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”

Psalm 78:4

“We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done.”

3 John 1:4

“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”

Parents, you are to use your authority to teach your children right from wrong.

Proverbs 22:6

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

Proverbs 29:17

“Correct your son, and he will give you rest; Yes, he will give delight to your soul.”

Hebrews 12:11

“For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.”

Parents your children are to look to you for guidance and instruction.

Ephesians 6:1-2

“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise”

Proverbs 1:8-9

“Hear, my son, your father’s instruction, and forsake not your mother’s teaching, for they are a graceful garland for your head and pendants for your neck.”

Verses to pray over your children:

 Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Philippians 1:4-6

“Always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ”

Psalm 20:4-5

“May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. May we shout for joy over your victory and lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the Lord grant all your requests.”

Parents, be in prayer for your children, guide your children in what is right, and educate your children in admonition of the Lord.
