The annual National Day of Prayer is typically scheduled for May 7, however it certainly does not hurt to have more Americans praying in uncertain times like these. Trump’s announcement comes shortly after declaring a national state of emergency as well as announcing partnerships with several large companies to expand testing for the illness.

Speaking of the virus, Trump said, “This will pass…It’s going to pass through…and we’ll be all the stronger for it.”

Throughout his tenure as President, Trump has consistently encouraged prayer in Thanksgiving Proclamations.
