Planned Parenthood CEO Leana Wen is once again trying to make a correlation between abortion and healthcare, speaking as if they are one and the same.
In an interview with Vice this week, Leana Wen accused pro-lifers of oppressing women, calling them “misogynists.” As the CEO of Planned Parenthood, Wen presides over the killing of over 330,000 babies each year, yet she had the audacity to claim that pro lifers do not actually support life, because they are against “healthcare” for women. Of course when referring to “healthcare” Wen actually means abortion, since statistically speaking that is the number one service that Planned Parenthood provides.
“They don’t get to call themselves ‘pro-life’ when they are taking healthcare and essential services away from the most vulnerable individuals in their own communities,” Wen said.
However, Wen is the one who is misrepresenting the issue and lumping in abortion with healthcare. Pro life individuals fully support women’s healthcare, and really just oppose the killing of innocent human life.
“Instead of trying to increase access to healthcare to combat these challenges, it’s just shocking that these governors and anti-women’s healthcare politicians are instead actively trying to take healthcare away from people,” Wen said.
Later, Wen flat out labeled pro-lifers as misogynists who just want to oppress women:
[Vice:] There has always been a battle around the language used to describe abortion rights supporters and opponents, with anti-reproductive-health politicians and advocates calling themselves “pro-life.” What are your thoughts on that term?
[Wen:] As a doctor, I know that keeping people unhealthy is a tool of oppression, and that stigmatizing reproductive healthcare is a tool of misogyny. We just have to call it out for what it is.
… We are seeing for ourselves how what they are doing has nothing to do with protecting people’s rights or health.
It’s actually the exact opposite. They want us to go back in time. If they have their way, our children will have fewer rights than we do.
Nothing could be further from the truth. Pro life people work tirelessly to ensure that future generations are given the most basic human right to even have a chance at life, but it doesn’t stop there. They support women with information so they can make an informed decision which will hopefully result in them ultimately choosing life for their child. Pro life people supply women with access to pregnancy and child-rearing support, often providing a large amount of material, emotional, and financial support to struggling moms.
Pro life individuals want to see that women truly are offered the best healthcare options available to them, and that they are enabled to make informed, safe, and healthy decisions for themselves and their children.
