Did you hear? The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has attacked California Family Council (CFC) in its recent report.
Why are we grateful for this clear slander full of blatant lies about our work? Consider the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:11: “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
These scriptures have never felt more relevant.
The SPLC is criticizing CFC and our colleagues across the country for our Biblical stance against obscene educational materials and irreversible medical treatments targeting children with gender dysphoria. Why?
Because we speak the truth in love and are committed to safeguarding the well-being of all children and families.
If you’re not familiar with the SPLC, they use misleading and inflammatory language to vilify organizations that hold Christians values. Our friends at Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) recently highlighted how the SPLC’s labels are “designed to stigmatize and silence people” who simply advocate for the belief that marriage is between one man and one woman and that gender is a biological reality.
ADF also exposed the SPLC’s failing credibility, noting they are “so discredited that even the mainstream media and some left-leaning organizations have called them out.” Additionally, a recent article from The Heritage Foundation outlines how the SPLC has shifted from its original mission of fighting for civil rights to becoming a fundraising juggernaut focused on attacking mainstream conservative groups.
Over the last decade, the SPLC has inflated its “hate group” numbers to include organizations like CFC, Moms for Liberty, ADF, and the Family Research Council (FRC). This shift has led to widespread criticism and legal challenges against the SPLC for defamation and misrepresentation.
The SPLC’s so-called “hate map” unjustly targets and vilifies Christian ministries, leading to violence and harassment. This dangerous rhetoric has real-world consequences.
In 2012, a deranged activist inspired by the SPLC’s “hate list” shot up the lobby at FRC’s Washington headquarters. This tragic event is a stark reminder of the risks we face in standing up for God’s truth. But it only strengthens our resolve to continue our mission.
In the face of these slanderous attacks on our work, CFC needs your support! This summer, join us in our mission by making a generous financial gift to CFC. Your contribution will help us:
- Educate the public about God’s design for marriage, family, gender, and sexuality,
- Strengthen pastors and ministry leaders through our upcoming “Worldview Bootcamp,” and
- Defend Biblical values at the Capitol in Sacramento.
Every donation, big or small, fuels our work and is an answer to prayer! Together, we can amplify God’s truth across California’s Church, Capitol, and Culture.
Thank you for being a vital part of CFC’s work. Let’s embrace this cultural moment and make a difference together!
