One California father is sharing the tragic story of his fight to save his 3-year-old son from radical gender ideology, which is being forced on the child by his mother.
When Harrison Tinsley’s partner became pregnant, she demanded that Tinsley adopt her progressive political ideology. While the two had consistently held opposing political viewpoints, this had never caused problems until the pregnancy occurred.
“I was constantly getting threatened that I wouldn’t see my son if I wasn’t exactly who she wanted me to be, particularly in a political sense,” Tinsley said.
He refused to adopt her progressive beliefs, so their relationship came to an end, and a cease-and-desist letter was sent to Tinsley. Consequently, he was effectively prevented from having any contact with his son.
However, soon after his son was born, he initiated legal proceedings to establish paternity, visitation, and custody rights. It took several months due to the lengthy legal process, and by the time Harrison finally met his son, the child was already fifteen months old.
“Unspeakable heartbreak … it’s like a part of you is just gone that should be there,” he said.
While Tinsley eventually managed to secure joint custody, a new challenge soon emerged. Currently, Tinsley is engaged in a legal battle to obtain full custody of his son, motivated by several factors, with the primary concern being that the child’s mother is raising him as non-binary. “She would post pictures of him in dresses and makeup,” Tinsley said.
A trial ensued and, much to Tinsley’s disappointment, the court’s decision was to maintain the existing custody arrangement. “My son had to continue to see the doctor that the mom preferred, which is a doctor” who believes “it’s okay to treat kids as non-binary,” he explained.
“If they’re not gonna’ protect my son, I am,” he said, “so I decided I’m gonna scream it from the rooftops and tell as many people…what’s going on and try to get support that way, and I’m appealing the court’s decision to a higher court.”
“That’s where I’m at now…I’m just speaking out, and it’s now become more than just protecting Sawyer; it’s also about protecting all kids.”
Meanwhile, California lawmakers are working to make it even more difficult for parents like Tinsley to care for their children. AB 957, which was recently passed by the California Senate Judiciary, and is now scheduled to be heard on the Senate Floor, would consider it abusive for a parent to not affirm a child’s gender “identity” and would deny custody to non-affirming parents during custody disputes.
The bill even specifically defines a child’s “health, safety, and welfare” to include “a parent’s affirmation of the child’s gender identity.”
In reality, affirming lies and raising a child to reject his or her biology is abusive. Parents like Tinsely have the right to raise their children to know the truth.
