CA Compensates Sterilization Victims While Sterilizing Gender-Confused Children

The California government sterilized approximately 600 people against their will or without their knowledge during the so-called eugenics movement of the 1930s and again a decade ago when it victimized state prisoners. Now, the state is trying to identify these victims so it can pay them $15,000 each in reparations.

So far, the government has received 310 applications, of which 51 have been approved, through the $4.5 million program. California will continue to look for the remaining victims over the next year.

Ironically, at the same time, California is sterilizing children under the guise of “gender affirming” care and punishing parents who oppose these dangerous “treatments” and procedures.

The state recognizes that stripping someone of their fertility is unjust, unless the patient is a child who is confused about his or her gender. California is funding these gender “transition” procedures for minors, which include puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and bodily mutilation, like double mastectomies.

In 2020, the California Senate Health Committee approved an initiative that uses tax-payer dollars to give gender dysphoric patients cross-sex hormones and surgeries that will permanently destroy their reproductive systems. In the same year, Gov. Newsom signed AB 2218 into law, giving grants to gender clinics to pay for gender “transition” drugs and surgeries.

Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles (CHLA) confirmed that puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones the hospital gives to prepubescent minors prevent them from having “biological children” later in life.

Further, there is a myriad of evidence that puberty blockers and cross sex hormones cause permanent damage beyond sterilization, such as brain development issues and bone density loss. The same drugs that are used to chemically castrate sex offenders are now being administered to children to affirm the lies they believe about themselves.

Numerous detransitioners have come forward and told their stories to prevent other children from suffering the same abuse. Chloe Cole, a teen detransitioner, testified against SB 107, the recently passed bill to make California a sanctuary for children seeking gender “transitions.”

After being diagnosed with gender dysphoria at the age of 12, Chloe was administered puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones. Then, at the age of 15, Chloe underwent a double mastectomy, per the advice of her doctors. Now she deeply regrets the uninformed, life-altering decision and is suing the Kaiser Permanente doctors who permanently damaged and mutilated her body. Chloe, and many others like her, are now dealing with the consequences of so-called medical care that is rooted in activism and ideology rather than science and truth.

In addition to offering reparations to its previous victims, California should focus on protecting gender-confused patients like Chloe Cole from the modern day sterilization of children who cannot be expected to understand the consequences of losing their fertility. These children are victims of a grave injustice, and California owes them reparations as well.
