Friday, President Trump declared a National Day of Prayer for today, Sunday, March 15, 2020. The announcement comes shortly after President Trump declared a state of emergency amid the corona virus pandemic.

“We are a Country that, throughout our history, has looked to God for protection and strength in times like these….,” Trump tweeted. “No matter where you may be, I encourage you to turn towards prayer in an act of faith. Together, we will easily PREVAIL!”

The annual National Day of Prayer is typically scheduled for May 7, however it certainly does not hurt to have more Americans praying in uncertain times like these. Trump’s announcement comes shortly after declaring a national state of emergency as well as announcing partnerships with several large companies to expand testing for the illness.

Speaking of the virus, Trump said, “This will pass…It’s going to pass through…and we’ll be all the stronger for it.”

Throughout his tenure as President, Trump has consistently encouraged prayer in Thanksgiving Proclamations.
