Planned Parenthood Fraudulently Took $80 Million in Stimulus Loans

Planned Parenthood has no “business” applying for stimulus loans. Planned Parenthood is an enormous tycoon of a business, reporting assets of $2.2 billion in their 2018-2019 annual report.

Republicans and the public alike have come to expect gross dishonesty from the nation’s largest abortion chain, however, its affiliates applying for stimulus loans is a cause for bewilderment. The CARES Act clearly states that only nonprofits with 500 employees or less were eligible. Planned Parenthood employs more that thirty-two times that number, yet still fraudulently applied for the stimulus loans.

All across the country there are legitimate small businesses struggling to survive, and yet the nation’s largest abortion provider has managed to unethically snatch an $80 million chunk from the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).

Two days ago, Fox News broke the story that thirty-seven Planned Parenthood affiliates improperly applied for and received $80 million in Coronavirus stimulus funds. Republicans were furious at Planned Parenthood for cheating other American businesses out of the money, businesses who were legitimately eligible, and needed those loans to stay afloat.

“Every dollar Planned Parenthood took from PPP was a dollar that did not get to legitimate small businesses,” Senator James Lankford (R-Okla.) said. “With an annual budget of over one billion dollars and the Small Business Administration affiliation rules made it clear that Planned Parenthood was not and is not eligible for the Paycheck Protection Program,” Lankford wrote. “Like other large organizations that returned monies they were not eligible for, Planned Parenthood should immediately repay the American people the money they took from deserving small businesses and non-profits.”

“They just don’t qualify under the affiliate rules,” Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said. “It’s as simple as that. Leave aside all the other issues, they do not qualify.”

“It’s hard to conclude anything other than that Planned Parenthood fraud,” Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) said.

Now, the Trump administration is demanding the money back. According to Fox News:

The Small Business Administration (SBA) is reaching out to each involved Planned Parenthood affiliate explaining that affiliates of larger organizations with more than 500 employees aren’t eligible for PPP distributions, Fox News is told. The Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PFFA) alone has had more than 600 employees.

The SBA warned more “severe penalties” were possible, beyond mandatory repayment. In particular, incorrect or false eligibility certifications by PPP recipients could result in criminal or civil sanctions if the SBA determined borrowers made knowingly false statements, the SBA letter read.

According to their annual report for 2018-2019, Planned Parenthood claimed to have performed 345,672 abortions while simultaneously receiving nearly $617 million through Government Health Services Reimbursements & Grants and reporting assets of over $2.2 billion.
