Gov. Newsom Wants to Stop Euthanizing Pets in CA, but Killing Babies Through Abortion is Acceptable

California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom is staunchly pro-abortion and has consistently attacked human rights by pushing his agenda of abortion and assisted suicide.

Last week, he announced that one of his top priorities for 2020-2021 would be to protect pets from euthanasia and promote animal adoptions.

According to the Sacramento Bee, Newsom’s budget plan includes $50 million in taxpayer funds for animal shelters. Newsom said he wants California to be “a no-kill state” when it comes to animal euthanasia, however he doesn’t care at all about killing babies through abortions.

According to the Sacramento Bee:

Newsom’s budget calls for a $50 million one-time general fund allocation to the UC Davis Koret Shelter Medicine Program to develop a grant program for animal shelters, with a goal of helping local communities “achieve the state’s policy goal that no adoptable or treatable dog or cat should be euthanized,” according to the budget summary.

Governor Newsom’s views on protecting the lives of pets aren’t consistent with his stance on not protecting the lives of unborn, human babies. As Lifenews points out:

The governor’s views on human killing, however, are the exact opposite. In October, Newsom signed a bill to expand the killing of unborn babies in abortions across California. The new law requires all public colleges and universities to provide abortions free to students, even though California already has some of the least restrictive abortion laws in the U.S.

He also supports assisted suicide, which is legal in California. The law allows elderly people and people with disabilities to receive a lethal dose of medication from a doctor to kill themselves. Shockingly, Newsom admitted to helping his own mother commit suicide after she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Newsom’s priorities are all mixed up. While protecting animals from cruelty and abuse is important, the protection of human life is even more so. Newsom is openly defying his duty as a leader to protect his constituents. If he truly cares about the most vulnerable, he would work to protect babies in the womb, people with disabilities and the elderly from the threats of abortion, assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Ironically, Governor Gavin Newsom has previously stated that “the intentional killing of another person is wrong.” Yet he continues to consistently promote legislation that is pro-abortion.
