Abortion is Ugly, Unjust, and Unnecessary

Abortion is Ugly

Abortion in all of its forms is ugly.

For preborn babies in the first 10 weeks of life, the go to method of abortion is the abortion pill. Proponents of the abortion pill RU 486 often tout it as a harmless procedure. Just two years ago, Ann Furedi, Chief Executive of the British Pregnancy Advisory Service tried to argue in an article for Spiked Magazine that abortion pills are “safe and simple,” while simultaneously arguing that these drugs be available over the counter. However, women commonly report dangerous symptoms including “unbearable pain” for lengthy periods of time. “The pain made me scream in tortuous wails,” said one woman. “I lay on my boyfriend’s couch, the first night alone, and writhed, twisted and contorted my body praying that either I would die or the pain would stop.”

Abortion advocates say that usage of the abortion pill is harmless to the mother, but accounts from women who have taken the abortion pill certainly have had negative side effects. According to the FDA, at least twenty-four women had even died from complications resulting from taking the abortion pill.

The further developed the pregnancy, the uglier abortions become. The most commonly used second-trimester abortion procedure is called a D&E abortion, which stands for dilation and evacuation. This type of abortion is committed between 13 and 24 weeks gestation. Quite literally, it is a removal of a baby from its mother’s womb by dismemberment of the baby. Live Action News notes:

As the babies get bigger and beyond the point of viability (babies can survive birth at 21 weeks), committing this type of abortion becomes more difficult for abortionists because of the level of violence that it entails.

The late Dr. Bernard Nathanson, a former abortionist turned pro-life activist, described a D&E abortion:

The D&E is performed by breaking the bag of water with a pointed instrument thrust through the partly dilated cervix, then inserting grasping and tearing instruments into the womb. The fetus is then quartered, the torso isolated and disemboweled. The head is crushed and extracted in pieces. The placenta is located and scraped off the wall of the womb. This completes the procedure save for the abortionist reassembling all the removed parts on a side table adjoining operating table.

Abortion is Unjust

Abortion is an egregious act of violence against innocent human beings and is responsible for the death of over 60 million children in the United States since Roe v. Wade in 1973.

No life is a burden. Every life is a gift. Every life has value. These principles are as true for a preborn infant who is helpless to survive outside of its mother’s womb as they are for an elderly parent or relative who might be devoid of the ability to care for him or herself. Every individual is unique, invaluable, and irreplaceable. Abortion denies the most basic human right, the right to life.

Abortion is Unnecessary

the idea that late-term abortions are ever medically necessary to save the life of a mother is a myth. In a 1993 interview with American Medical News, late-term abortionist Martin Haskell who is credited with the horrid invention of partial-birth abortion, said: “I’ll be quite frank: most of my abortions are elective in that 20-24 week range…. In my particular case, probably 20% are for genetic reasons. And the other 80% are purely elective.”

“As an OB/GYN physician for 31 years, there is no medical situation that requires aborting/killing the baby in the third trimester to ‘save the mother’s life,’” Koning said in 2016. “Just deliver the baby by C-section and the baby has 95+% survival with readily available NICU care even at 28 weeks. C-section is quicker and safer than partial birth abortion for the mother.”

Since January 22nd, (the anniversary of Roe v. Wade) the United States has now sanctioned legalized abortion for forty-seven years throughout all fifty states. Since the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision there have been over an estimated 61,628,584 abortions that have ended the lives of innocent human beings.
