While speaking to a packed out audience at a Life Issues Institute and Susan B. Anthony List luncheon, Vice President Mike Pence boldly declared that abortion in America will end during our lifetime.
“I truly do believe, if all of us do all that we can, we will once again in our time, restore the sanctity of life to the center of American Law,” Vice President Pence stated.
“I hope you all feel encouraged today, because I know, I do. Having been in the cause all of my adult life, I see more progress in the last year in the cause of life than I have seen in public policy in all of my years.” Before becoming Vice Present, Pence has been an outspoken advocate on pro life issues, from his time as a member of the Indiana state legislature to his tenure as Governor of the state of Indiana.
“And I truly do believe that life is winning in America for a variety of reasons,” Pence said. “Through the generosity of adoptive families that are opening their homes to children. And life is winning through the compassion of caregivers and volunteers at crisis pregnancy centers and faith-based organizations” who offer support, love and encouragement to young pregnant women in crisis.
During his speech, Pence also praised the pro life work of the Susan B. Anthony List and Life Issues Institute and told them that he was proud of the ministry work they are engaged in. “Life is winning in America, ultimately, because of all of you, and the people you represent all across this country. I couldn’t be more proud of the pro-life movement,” he said, and of the deep compassion and commitment he sees in those who fight to protect the sanctity of life.
While thankful for the progress made, Vice President Pence also reminded those in attendance of the great work that still lies ahead.
“While we have made much progress, we have much work left to do,” Pence said, so “Let us not weary of doing good.”
“I just know in my heart of hearts, that this will be the generation that restores life in America.”
“I urge you on, and I do so with confidence, with confidence that good news is around the corner in America,” he said. “I have boundless faith in the goodness and decency of the American people; I have boundless confidence in that President that you elected and the pro-life majorities in the Congress of the United States, and in states all across this country.”
“And I have boundless confidence in Him who said, ‘Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you,’” said the Vice President, quoting Psalm 139.
“And with faith in all those leaders, faith in all of you, and faith in God,” he said, “I know that, together with you, we will once again live in an America that chooses life.”
Pence’s words are an exceedingly optimistic look back on the strides made in the pro life movement in the last few years, while serving as a gentle admonishment to consider the work that still remains ahead.
