Planned Parenthood has chosen a new president to head the giant abortion corporation. Planned Parenthood released a video on their YouTube channel introducing Dr. Leana Wen as their new president. Wen is a former emergency room doctor as well as the Commissioner of Health for the City of Baltimore.
In her video, Wen shares the story of how a woman visited the emergency room she worked at and ultimately died under her care as a result of a botched abortion. Ironically, Wen uses this narrative to try to sell people on why abortions should be easier to obtain. Wen completely ignores the fact that an abortion is still a highly dangerous procedure for a woman to undergo. And of course, it is fatal to the baby the woman is carrying.
Tragically, Wen is using the death of the mother who died that day in the emergency room as a political tool to push for the deaths of more babies. Lifenews points out that nearly 1 million babies are aborted every year in the United States, but Wen apparently is implying that already astronomically high number is somehow not enough lives lost.
In a blog interview with Bustle, Wen also used the tragic death of the mother to push her political agenda and gave more details about the situation.
AM: [D]o you view a legal right to an abortion more as a question of a right to privacy or as a question of economic justice?
LW: It’s both and more. I see it first as a health issue because I’ve seen what happens when women don’t have access to medical care, including safe, legal abortions. Working in the ER, I treated a young woman who came in lying in a pool of blood, without a pulse. We did everything we could in the ER to try to save her, but we failed, and she died. And it turns out that she didn’t have access to health care and resorted to having her cousin attempt an abortion on her at home.
This is what’s at stake when women don’t have access to health care, and when women don’t have access to safe, legal abortions. It’s a health care issue. It’s also an economic justice issue. It’s also a privacy issue. Why should government and politicians be making decisions for women about their bodies and their health?
Wen uses this tragic story to erroneously attribute this women’s death to a lack of access to abortion. However, the truth is that there is no such thing as a safe abortion. As long as there are abortions, there will always be fatalities to women. What Wen, Planned Parenthood, and other abortion activists have made clear is that they don’t really care about women’s health. Lifenews points out that:
Pro-abortion groups even are pushing do-it-yourself abortions openly in America – which has some of the most permissive abortion laws in the world. Planned Parenthood also uses webcam abortions, a dangerous method where women never see a doctor in person before aborting their unborn babies.
Wen uses a women’s death to push for more abortions, attributing the woman’s death to having an abortion at home because of being to scared to see an abortionist, or because of a lack of availability to see an abortionist. Yet Wen presides over an organization that encourages women to participate in webcam abortions and DIY abortions.
Planned Parenthood is a scandal-ridden corporation. In addition to lying and misleading the public, Planned Parenthood has been exposed for its gruesome fetal parts harvesting practices. It has also been caught covering up sex trafficking and statutory rape, condoning sex- and race-based abortions, giving medically inaccurate information about fetal development, and coaching kids on risky sexual practices.
The bottom line is that Planned Parenthood only cares about their bottom line. Not about women’s health.
