In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, while abortion facilities were busy soliciting donations so that they could allegedly offer free abortions to women, former abortion workers with And Then There Were None, led by Abby Johnson (herself a former Planned Parenthood director) were collecting tons of items to donate to pregnant women in distress.
According to Live Action News, they collected “over 22,968 diapers, 38,409 wipes, 1,444 pounds of baby food, and 1,170 bottles of baby formula alone plus hundreds of other items for displaced pregnant women in the Houston area and nearly $2,000 in gift cards.”
“We really wanted to make a positive difference in the lives of pregnant moms facing difficult circumstances following the devastating hurricane,” said Abby Johnson. “I’ve seen firsthand the emotional, physical, and spiritual damage of abortion working at Planned Parenthood. While I thought I was helping women during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina to get them free abortions, in reality, I was only adding to the heartbreak. Now is our time to do something different, something truly helpful.”
When Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005, Johnson was the manager of a Planned Parenthood affiliate in Houston. Her abortion facility was offering free abortion to women following that Hurricane. Johnson says back then she thought in her ignorance that she was actually helping women by helping them abort their child. But now she knows better, she says, and partnering with the generosity of others, she is now making a positive impact on many women’s lives.
And Then There Were None estimates that they have already helped over 150 families by providing them with practical necessities such as diapers, wipes, breastfeeding supplies, feminine hygiene items, toilet paper, bottles, cribs, and strollers.
“The generosity of people all across the country has been astounding,” said Johnson. “We have been able to collect nearly $20,000 worth of donated items through the registries and give those items directly to families in need.”
