President Trump Reverses of Obama Administration’s Radical Transgender Military Policy

SACRAMENTO – The California Family Council released the following statement in response to the Trump Administration’s decision to no longer allow those serving in the military to identify as “transgender,” to use opposite-sex facilities, or to dress as members of the opposite sex.

“The inherent purpose of the military is national defense, and every policy it enacts should serve that purpose” said Jonathan Keller, President of California Family Council. “Every American citizen should be treated with dignity, and we should respect both those who struggle with gender dysphoria and their desire to serve our country,” Keller continued. “However, we should not sacrifice the military preparedness in an attempt to implement an anti-biology social policy. Those who have sacrificed so much to serve in our armed forces deserve our thanks, not radical activism that creates confusion, negatively affects unit cohesion, and distracts from military readiness.”

Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (R-Mo.) serves on the House Armed Services Committee. In her official statement, she said: “President Trump’s decision today to rescind Obama’s transgender military policy has the best interests of the military in mind…Our military is the most effective, efficient and well-funded fighting force in the world, and as the president notes, we cannot burden our armed forces with the tremendous costs and disruptions that transgender in the military would entail.”
