UPDATE: Reprieve on SB 1146! Bill Amended, Lobby Day Canceled

Friends,

We are grateful to inform you that Senator Ricardo Lara, the author of SB 1146, has announced that he is going to amend his bill to remove those elements of the bill that we opposed! We are waiting to confirm its final language, but it now appears SB 1146 will only mandate a few additional reporting and notice requirements.

As a result of this (and pending the final language), California Family Council is no longer opposing SB 1146.  We are also canceling our formal lobbying efforts for tomorrow, Thursday, August 11.

This is GREAT NEWS, but we must remain vigilant and cautious. Based on statements from several activists, we believe a new bill with similar troubling elements may be introduced for the 2017-2018 legislative session. If we grow complacent, members of the Assembly may actually push even harder to restrict religious liberty. With the prospect of policies even worse than SB 1146, we must stay on guard!

We especially want to thank each and every one of you who stood with us in defense of religious liberty and student choice.  Your efforts, your phone calls, your emails, and your activism were critical in halting the progress of this bill.  Thank you for standing with us for student choice and religious liberty!

As we continue to stand for Life, Family, and Liberty, we also sincerely appreciate your financial support. Please click the Donate button above to make a tax-deductible gift today.

Thank you, a thousand times over, for your support. God bless you and your family!

Standing Together With You,

Jonathan Keller
