CALIFORNIA HIGH COURT OVERRULES PEOPLE (5/15/08)   
In a 4-3 decision, the Supreme Court of California today overturned Proposition 22.  In striking down Proposition 22, the initiative passed in 2000 – by 61.4% of voters – to define marriage in California as only between a man and a woman, the Court declared a right to “same-sex marriage” under the California Constitution.   Read CFC’s press release.

STUDY:  Divorce, unwed parenting costing taxpayers billions (4/15/08)
The Associate Press is reporting that divorce and out-of-wedlock childbearing cost U.S. taxpayers over $114 billion per year, according to a study commissioned by four groups advocating more government action to bolster marriages. Read more as reported in the Associated Press.

California home schooling case to be reheard (3/26/08)
Good news!  A state appeals court has agreed to reconsider last month's decision that barred home schooling by parents who lack teaching credentials. This raises the possibility that the judges will change a decision that has rippled through home-school community nationwide. A new hearing will be held in June. According to the Home School Legal Defense Association, “The automatic effect of granting this motion is that the prior opinion is vacated and is no longer binding on any one, including the parties in the case."  Read the story reported in the San Francisco Chronicle.   

CA SUPREMES HEAR ORAL ARGUMENTS ON MARRIAGE DEFINITION (3/5/08)
The California Supreme Court yesterday heard oral arguments and questioned attorneys in the cases challenging California's voter-instituted statute (Prop 22) protecting marriage as between a man and a woman.
