Live Action reporters interviewed pro-abortion activists at the “Bans Off Our Bodies” rally in Los Angeles, California to see just how radical their positions were. Some activists made abhorrent claims that cause concern about the moral compass of the country.
In one video, a protestor repeatedly argued that a mother should be able to kill her child at any time, including after birth. In other words, a mother’s desires override the rights of the unborn and young children, simply because not enough people are willing to defend these helpless children.
In a second video, multiple activists screamed at pro-lifers and claimed that women should be able to kill their children whenever they want. Again, they argued that infanticide should be acceptable.
When asked if a woman should be able to kill her two-year-old, one pro-choicer simply replied, “It’s a woman’s right to choose.”
It seems that the left is increasingly embracing infanticide. Not only are radical protestors rallying for unrestricted abortion and murder after birth, but legislators are attempting to make these dystopian nightmares a reality.
Multiple bills containing language that could legalize infanticide have been introduced in Maryland and California. California’s Assembly Bill 2223 passed the Assembly last week and although the infanticide language was modified after intense protest from pro-lifers, the bill makes infanticide hard to investigate and prosecute. The bill also decriminalizes back-alley abortions by removing punishment for anyone violating any abortion health and safety standards for any reason when performing an abortion on a woman through all nine months of pregnancy, right up to the moment of birth.
As is now clear, legalizing abortion is a slippery slope that begins with “safe and rare” abortions and ends with complete disregard for all human life. As President of Lancaster Bible College Peter Teague said, “We cannot diminish the value of any category of human life without diminishing the value of all human life.”
Leftist politicians and public figures have even admitted that abortion kills an innocent life, yet they are still for it. “The idea that we’re going to make a judgment that is going to say that no one can make the judgment to choose to abort a child, based on a decision by the Supreme Court, I think goes way overboard,” said President Biden in response to the Dobbs draft leak.
The left is idolizing bodily autonomy at the expense of any decent moral code, and their position on abortion continues to become more extreme. This is because the culture has removed God, the only source of objective truth and morality, from the public sphere. Morality is now based on subjective feelings that change with the times, meaning anything is capable of becoming socially acceptable, including murder in or outside the womb.
The task at hand for Christians now is not simply to convince the our culture that children in the womb are in fact children, but that murder of innocent life is wrong. The desires of an adult do not supersede the rights of a child, especially the right to life.
